Jay D. Knudson joined the firm in 2017. A native of Clifford, ND, Jay graduated cum laude from the University of North Dakota with a BBA in economics in 2001, and earned his Juris Doctor with distinction from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 2004. Jay is licensed to practice in the State of North Dakota, the United States District Court for the District of North Dakota and the United States Court of appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
Prior to joining the Firm Jay worked in private practice in Grand Forks, worked as an attorney for the North Dakota Commission on Legal Counsel for Indigents, and most recently served on the bench as a Magistrate Judge/Judicial Referee for the Northeast Central Judicial District in North Dakota.
Jay teaches at the University of North Dakota School of Law as an adjunct professor. He is a member of the State Bar Association of North Dakota and the Grand Forks County Bar Association. He serves on the board of directors for the Grand Forks Community Corrections Advisory Board and volunteers as a youth soccer coach. In the past, Jay has served as president of the Grand Forks County Bar Association, an officer for the Greater Grand Forks Young Professionals organization, and on the board of directors for United Day Nursery.
